4 Easy steps to Instagram friendly photographs

Since i moved i have fallen in love with tidying and faffing around with little bits in the house.I keep going lots of lovely comments on how the house looks which makes me uber happy.

Ive also had a couple of questions about how i edit my pictures and how i get them so clear so i thought id do a post about.

I dont have a fancy camera and im not a pro on photoshop either but i do have access to my iphone 6s plus and a couple of apps that anyone can get.

Now instagram is the place for perfection, which is nice but people need to understand not everything they see on instagram is the truth. Instagram makes everything look 1000 times better.

take this picture for instance, it didnt look like that when i took the photo. so im going to show you how i got it too look so Insta friendly!

First things first you're going to need the right tools. The app I use is Photoshop Express which can be found in the app store for free. The icon looks a little something like this. This app and the editing options on the Instagram app are the only 2 things i use to edit my pictures.

As you can see from these side by sides, the before picture isn't as bright. the whites aren't white and it looks a bit dark.

First off I open the image into Photoshop express and begin with the Exposure of the photo. This brightens up the image and creates a much brighter look. You dont want to take this up too high as it will just look silly, but enough to things can still be seen and detail isnt lost.

Next up I reduce the noise of the image. Im not exactly technical here so please bare with me, but i think this is a feature that brings out the detail in the photos without using the sharpness and making things fuzzy, I think back in the day it was called grain, So this is going to help with those clear images. If you are taking photos with a fancy camera then you can use your noise reduction setting or shoot at a lower ISO setting.

Lastly I cool the photo temperature down. My walls arent white they are cream so things get a little yellow looking so cooling the image down will get rid of those yellow tones and make them more bluey/white. Be sure not to go overboard with this feature though, it can easily end up looking too blue and wont look good at all.

After im happy with the picture, after tweeking little things and going through the process a few times till im satisfied, I save the photo and then upload it into Instagram. Which is where i will edit it one last time, by upping the fade [don't ask me what that does, but I like the effect] to between 35-40. Then i think of a caption and hit share.

It really is 4 easy steps to get an Instagram friendly photo.
